POSTED: October 13, 2015 | BY: Margaret Brooks

This free, one-day Financial Literacy professional development program is open to all K-12 educators. The teacher training will be held at Rhode Island College in Alger 110 on Thursday October 29, 2015 from 8:00 am to 3:45 pm. Two modules from the national Jump$tart Teacher Training Initiative will be presented, covering core topics of Savings and Investment, and Spending and Financial Planning. In addition, teachers will receive training on content and lessons in the Virtual Economics 4.5 flash drive that Fidelity is generously providing to every public school in RI in 2015.

Speakers and breakout session facilitators throughout the day will include RI educational leaders, classroom teachers, and Fidelity experts. It will be a great opportunity for RI schools to share their ideas on how to incorporate the National Standards Financial Literacy (adopted in RI in November 2014) into their classrooms.

The October 29 Financial Literacy program is being organized by the RI Jump$tart Coalition and the RI Council for Economic Education Please register now to reserve your place and encourage your colleagues to attend as well. Substitute reimbursement monies up to $75 per teacher are available to Districts upon request. Questions may be directed to Dr. Margaret Brooks, President of RI Jump$tart and RI Council for Economic Education, at rhodeislandjumpstart@gmail.com.

Many thanks to Fidelity Investments for generously supporting this program!
